Gear List



Below is a list of the gear I currently use for walking and wild camping. 

Tents

  • Wild Country Helm 1 Compact (in photo above) - My best and preferred tent. Solid and well made. A one-man tent, so only enough room for me and my kit in the vestibules. Weight: 2.08Kg
  • OEX Phoxx 2 - Slightly wider so I use it if I bring my dog. It's a two-man tent, but you'd have to be close friends. Weight: 2.1Kg
  • Grand Canyon Cardova 1 - The first wild camping tent I bought. Budget, but easy to set up and good for summer solo camping. Weight: 2.2Kg

Sleeping Bags

  • Alpkit Pipedream 400. For colder months. A down bag with a comfort rating of -4C. Weight: 865g.
  • Snugpak Nautilus Basecamp OPS - My summer bag. An envelope shape so plenty of room to move about inside. A questionable 3°C comfort rating, but I wouldn't use it below 8°C. Weight: 1.4Kg.

Sleeping Mats

  • Flextail R05 Mummy - 5.6 R-rating. Light, warm and really comfortable. A great inflatable mat. Weight: 511g.
  • OEX Flux 7R - 7.2 R-rating, but I bought one of the early batches and after a few trips it no longer stays fully inflated all night. Apparently those issues are now resolved, but I can't recommend it. Weight: 768g.
Backpack 

Vango Sherpa 60+10 - I bought an older model in new condition from eBay. Quite a heavy pack, but very comfortable and enough room for all season camping trips. Weight: 2.4Kg

Other Equipment

  • Pillow - Flextail Zero B Shape. Inflatable, but comfortable. Weight: 148g
  • Stove - Alpkit BruKit. Fast boiling. Weight: 585g
  • Light/Pump - Flextail Max 3 Pump with built in light. This is a cracking bit of kit. Quite expensive though and delivery took ages. Weight: 122g
  • Chair - Trekology YIZI-GO (in photo above) - Light and packs down into a small bag. Weight 900g.
  • Headtorch - Silva Smini Lite. Weight: 44g
  • Water filter - Katadyn BeFree 1L
  • Down Jacket - Rab Microlight
  • Waterproof Jacket - Patagonia Torrentshell
  • Windbreaker - Paramo Fuera smock
  • Baby Carrier - LittleLife Voyager. Bought from Facebook Marketplace for £15 and it has been superb for long hikes carrying our baby daughter. Weight: 2.9Kg.
